Related to Hari Sumpah Pemuda (Youth Pledge Day) that is commemorated on every October 28, Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama asks the youth to prepare themselves well so they could compete with the youth from other countries. “The mentality of Indonesian youth must continuously be built, so they would become youth that are superior, competence, and competitive,” stated Basuki when being Ceremony Inspector at the Youth Pledge Ceremony at IRTI Field Monas, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (10/28).
Moreover, Basuki assessed that the mental revolution proclaimed by Indonesia President Joko Widodo is very relevant to be applied to face the ASEAN Community.

In the ceremony themed ‘Build Solidarity of Advance and Sustainable Youth’, Basuki also asks his ranks to be optimal in serving the citizens.
“The theme contains a message that the government is trying to make the youth play their roles optimally as the unifier of the nation unity,” he said.
Besides Basuki, the Youth Pledge ceremony is also attended by Basuki’s wife Veronica Tan, City Secretary Saefullah, Deputy Governor for Spatial and Environment Division Sarwo Handayani, City Secretary Assistant for Development Division Wiriyatmoko, Head of Jakarta Sports and Youth Department Ratiyono, Head of Jakarta Education Department Lasro Marbun, Head of Jakarta Satpol PP Kukuh Hadi Santoso, and Head of Jakarta Personnel Board (BKD) I Made Karmayoga.
